Shared Ownership FAQ

Which banks lend on shared ownership?

A number of mainstream and specialist lenders offer shared ownership mortgages, although this can change over time. Common lenders in this area can include Halifax, Nationwide, Leeds Building Society, Santander and Barclays, among others.

The best lender depends on your circumstances, including income, deposit size, property type and credit profile. Some lenders are stronger for flats, new builds or first-time buyers than others.

Because criteria can vary significantly, comparing lenders through a whole-of-market mortgage broker often provides access to more suitable options than approaching one lender directly.

Your home/property may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
You may have to pay an early repayment charge to your existing lender if you remortgage.

We were looking to buy our first shared home together. Nick came highly recommended by several of my contacts. He made the process of sorting out a mortgage very easy, I have attempted this before myself and I wish that I had known him on that occasion. He made the whole application so simple and all we had to do was answer a few basic questions and sign. He did the rest. Yes, All the payments were sorted and we have now been the new house for 2 years. I cannot fault any of the process as Nick and his team are extremely organised.
